NEW ERA

NEW ERA

Rob Ashton15 Jan - 13:01

2025 will see the dawn of a New Era for the Bedford Tigers!

Following on from the disappointment of our 2024 bid to join the games professional ranks, the club sat with the RFL to debrief the bid and the areas in which we fell short were highlighted.

It was positive to know that on the whole we had a lot of positive things in place but the gap between operating as a community side and that of a professional side was some distance.

We were praised for our standards on the field over the past 20 years. We have been one of the forerunning clubs in the south of England and our work to develop men's, women's and wheelchair sides gives us a well rounded and admirable on field offer. Our Charity Foundation was also praised and sets us apart from the vast majority of other clubs nationally.

The decision has been taken in 2025 to revamp what we do as a club and this new era will see us move more towards operating as a professional club!

Behind the scenes we will be looking to improve our operation. New roles have and will continue to be created to help facilitate this new direction.

There will be an overhaul of match day activities with business networking events, pre game hospitality, outdoor engagement activities and entertainment. Tigers supporters will be able to attend games across the entire club with our new season pass membership!

Our community engagement will deepen with the introduction of junior summer skills camps and we will look to create a new "Academy" style system to reach out to new talent in and around the Bedfordshire area all year round.

Our player offer will improve dramatically. We have adopted a more focussed approach to recruitment and training as we look to move towards a semi professional structure.

Success on the field is mirrored by the effort off the field. The club will become more than just a place for people to play sport. It will become a hub for the local community as we push towards a New and more professional Era for sport in Bedford.
